This class reviews rappelling basics then teaches advanced rappelling. Learn special rigging, mechanical advantage, ascending/Decending, alternate rappel devices, changeovers, advanced knots, safety procedures, special gear, Covert Rope Deployment, Weapons Management, Team Window Entry, and backup belaying. Learn rescue rigging, rescue hauls, rescue rappel devices, rescue knots, safety procedures and protocols, rescue gear, and emergency belaying.  You will also learn tactical rappel techniques that can be applied during real world operations; enhancing your tactical team’s options. You will also do several rappels, emergency changeovers, and staged rescues and/or self rescue before returning to the store for the rappelling test and knot exam. This course will meet and or exceed NFPA 1670 guidelines for A Rope Rescue Technician. TBD also Course will be AZ POST certified.

Required Equipment

  • Any Rappelling harness that meets ANSI/OSHA Class II harness standards or better.
  • Gloves( Preferably Rope Gloves)
  • Rappelling Decender device (Preferably rescuer figure 8)
  • Helmet(tactical and/or meets CE EN 12492: meets the requirements of the EN 397 and EN 12492 standards for protection against impact. Meets the optional requirements of the EN 397 standard for use in low temperatures.
  • UIAA, ANSI Z89.1-2009 Type I Class C,
  • Locking Carabiner(Meets UL certified to current NFPA standards)
  • Prusik Cords, Pursels and/or Mech asenders
  • Comfortable Clothes and Closed toe Shoes

Food & Water

2 gallons of water per day and enough food to support each training day for the entirety of the course. Students will not be released for lunch, but there will be secure places for student to bring coolers if desired.
